This guide will help you on how to install maps on your server.

You can add maps to your server using different methods, below you will find instructions that cover most of the different methods available from the easiest one to the hardest one, choose the one you prefer.


ADDING MAPS USING MOD MANAGER METHOD (VERY EASY)

  1. Stop server
  2. Backup your server
  3. Go to Mod Manager and install the map you want from the Maps section
  4. Go to Configuration Files and edit Config.bat with Configuration Editor option, scroll to Map Settings, choose the map you installed and Save
  5. Go to Configuration Files and edit GameUserSettings.ini with Configuration Editor option, scroll down to Mod Settings and type the ModID of the map you installed on ActiveMods field (*)
  6. Press the Wipe Server button on your control panel
  7. Start server


ADDING MAPS USING THE WORKSHOP MOD MANAGER METHOD (EASY)

  1. Stop server
  2. Backup your server
  3. Go to ARK Workshop and get the ModID of the map you want to add (*)
  4. Press the Workshop Mod Manager button, select the Download Mods task and put the ModID on the Workshop ModID field, accept the confirmation and press Execute
  5. Go to Configuration Files and edit Config.bat with Configuration Editor option, scroll to Map Settings, choose the map you installed and Save.
  6. Go to Configuration Files and edit GameUserSettings.ini with Configuration Editor option, scroll down to Mod Settings and type the ModID of the map you installed on ActiveMods field (*)
  7. Press the Wipe Server button on your control panel
  8. Start server


ADDING MAPS USING ARK REMOTE METHOD (MEDIUM)

  1. Stop server
  2. Backup your server
  3. Go to Mod Manager and install ARK Remote from Tools section
  4. Start server
  5. Connect to your server ARK Remote following this guide
  6. Search the map you want on ARK Remote Mods section, press the Add button, then open it and press the Install button
  7. Stop server
  8. Go to Configuration Files and edit GameUserSettings.ini with Configuration Editor option, scroll down to Mod Settings and type the ModID of the map you installed on ActiveMods field (*)
  9. Go to Configuration Files and edit Config.bat with Configuration Editor option, scroll to Map Settings, choose the map you installed and Save
  10. Press the Wipe Server button on your control panel
  11. Start server


ADDING MAPS USING FTP METHOD (HARD)

  1. Stop server
  2. Backup your server
  3. Close ARK game on your computer
  4. Go to ARK Workshop and subscribe to the map you want, open and close ARK to let Steam download the map to your computer
  5. Connect to your server FTP using this guide
  6. Go to your ARK installation folder to your computer, open the Contents/Mods/ folder and upload the map folder and .mod file to same folder on your server Contents/Mods
  7. Go to Configuration Files and edit GameUserSettings.ini with Configuration Editor option, scroll down to Mod Settings and type the ModID of the map you installed on ActiveMods field (*)
  8. Go to Configuration Files and edit Config.bat with Configuration Editor option, scroll to Map Settings, choose the map you installed and Save
  9. Press the Wipe Server button on your control panel
  10. Start server


IF YOU HAVE CROSS TRAVEL CLUSTER SERVER ENABLE

  • You can set individual maps for primary and cluster server, install them normally using one of the methods described above and then inside Config.bat with Cross Travel enabled select what map you want for primary and cluster servers.

 You can find the ModId of the map, opening the workshop page of the map, and copying the numbers in the end of the workshop page link, example: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=614734500 the ModID it's 614734500


If you have other mods besides the map, you should always load the map first without any mods to let the server generate all required files, once you see the server online, stop the server and then add the other mods.


Always do a backup of your server before installing any mod in case you want to revert back to your previous world, also always do regular backups of your server in case any future update of ARK or update of the mod causes issues in your world and you need to revert it back.
